About

Field notes from people who like a tidy Mac.

Cleaner for Mac is a small, independent guide. We write down what actually keeps a MacBook pleasant to use — and leave out the theatrics.

The itch we set out to scratch

Look up why a Mac feels slow and you'll wade through blinking alerts and one-tap "fixes" that create more worry than they solve. We wanted a calmer corner of the internet: clear notes on what's really happening under the hood, and steps you can take yourself with the tools Apple already ships.

Think of this site as a field guide. Each chapter is something we've done many times on our own machines and on those of friends and family — tested on current macOS before it goes up, and revised whenever Apple moves things around.

How we work

We pick a familiar Mac annoyance, recreate it where we can, and document the exact menus, settings, and habits that resolve it. Where a limitation is really about the hardware, we say so plainly instead of pretending a setting will fix it.

Our rule of thumb: if a step can't be undone, or if we can't explain it in a sentence, it doesn't belong in the guide.

What you won't find here

  • Countdown timers, flashing warnings, or "your Mac is at risk" theatrics.
  • Pressure to buy or install anything to follow along.
  • Promises of dramatic, guaranteed speed-ups — Macs are more nuanced than that.

Independence

We publish on our own and represent no hardware or software maker. Cleaner for Mac is not affiliated with Apple Inc. Apple, Mac, MacBook, and macOS are trademarks of Apple Inc. Our only job is to help you enjoy the Mac you already own.
